The best app to find charging stations and travel

Driving an electric car always raises the same questions: where to stop, whether the charger works, how much battery will be left on arrival, and how to pay once you get there. As long as these questions go unanswered, you end up watching your range instead of the road. Electus was designed to answer all of them in a single free app, available on iPhone and Android, that supports you from finding a charger to the end of your charging session. Here’s why it’s the best app to find charging stations and travel with peace of mind.

Find the right charger in seconds

Every trip starts with a simple question: where can I charge? Electus gives you access to more than 207,000 charging stations, which you can filter by power, connector type or operator to display only the ones that are actually right for your car.

Each charger has its own detailed page: real-time availability, pricing, power of each charging point and the date of the last charging session. That last detail makes all the difference, because a charger used an hour ago is very likely to work, while one that has been silent for several weeks is probably worth skipping.

Tip: when travelling, filter the map to show high-power chargers compatible with your plug. You’ll only see the stops that are genuinely useful for getting there fast.

Finding a charger nearby is reassuring. Knowing in advance where to stop on a trip of several hundred kilometres is even more so, and that’s where the route planner comes in.

Plan your trip without doing the maths

With the Electus route planner, all you need to do is enter your destination and your vehicle. The app takes care of the rest: where to charge, how long to stay at each stop and how much each charging session will cost.

The planner relies on your car’s specifications to choose chargers suited to its charging power. You also see your estimated battery percentage at each stop and on arrival. No more juggling advertised range, weather or terrain: you set off with a clear itinerary and know exactly what to expect.

A route plan, however, is only as reliable as its starting point. If the battery level it uses is approximate, every estimate will be too.

A battery level you can always trust

Electus can retrieve your car’s real battery level, either by connecting to your vehicle account or through an OBD dongle plugged in inside the car. The planner then starts from the actual percentage, with no manual input, and updates the arrival estimate if your consumption changes along the way (speed, cold, elevation).

The OBD dongle goes even further: depending on each car’s compatibility, it gives access to information such as battery temperature, state of health (SOH), voltage, power and much more. And when your car is connected, you can follow its battery level and estimated range from your phone, without even being in the car.

Good to know: battery percentage tracking via the vehicle account or the OBD dongle is part of Electus Premium.

Having the right figure on your phone is great. Having it right in front of you while driving is even better.

Electus on Android Auto and Apple CarPlay

Electus appears directly on your car’s screen thanks to Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The built-in GPS guides you to your destination while automatically finding chargers along your route: all you have to do is follow the road.

At any time, you can display chargers around you or along your route, and check their live occupancy before stopping. Your current battery percentage and the one expected at your destination remain visible at all times, in standard or satellite view.

For an even more comfortable drive, Electus Premium adds live traffic to the route calculation, along with the display of traffic lights, stop signs and level crossings.

Once you reach the planned charger, there’s one last step left, often the most stressful one: starting the charging session.

Start charging from the app or with the Electus Pass

With Electus, you have two ways to start a session. On chargers whose operator supports it, you can start charging directly from the app: select the charger and the charging point, and the session begins, no card needed.

The Electus Pass, the Electus charging card, works in every situation: a charger that doesn’t support remote start, no mobile signal, a flat phone battery… Just tap, plug in and charge. It’s compatible with more than 207,000 charging stations, including those of major networks such as Ionity, TotalEnergies, Electra, Fastned and Allego.

Either way, all your charging sessions show up in the app, in one place.

Tip: always keep your Electus Pass in the glovebox. On the road, a rest area with no signal or a dead phone will never stop you from charging.

Once charging has started, there’s no reason to stay standing next to the car.

Track your charging session without waiting by the car

During the session, Electus displays the battery percentage, the energy added and the cost of the session in real time, depending on the information available from the charger and the car. You always know where things stand, without having to go back and check the charger’s screen.

Better still, Electus sends you a notification when your car reaches the percentage you’ve chosen, or 80% by default. So you can make the most of the break to grab lunch, stretch your legs or have a coffee, and come back at just the right time. On a long trip, these stops become real breaks rather than time spent waiting by the charger.

Travelling well in an electric car also depends on the car itself, and Electus helps you there too.

Choose a car built for travelling

The app includes an electric vehicle database: range, charging power, battery technology and much more. You’ll also find long-distance electric car comparisons, which show in concrete terms how each model performs when the kilometres start adding up.

Whether you’re planning a purchase, renting a car for the holidays or simply want to get to know your own car better, you’ll know what to expect before you even hit the road.
